RECONSIDERING EDUCATION
I can imagine no other life than that as an educator. Teaching is dynamic and relationship driven. I’ve taught pre-kindergarten through graduate school in the second largest university and the eleventh largest public school system in the country. Working in such large institutions allowed me to work with a diverse group of teachers, students and administrators. It also provided first hand experience of how overwhelming and impersonal restrictions and rules can be in such large organizations. My teaching environment changed drastically when our family began to homeschool. This contrast of new freedom allowed me to reconsider what it means to teach and learn.
